a little longer ... Just haul it outside and decorate it with millet and cubes of suet. I tie yarn around the pieces and make them look like little packages - the birdies LOVE having a little holiday magic of their own.

I have smiled and said that a million times to Caleb since Christmas.
He got his first pellet gun and is crazy about it.

I love to see him smile and that look of accomplishment when he demolishes his target is priceless.

My boy is growing up faster than a speeding pellet.

A fun, simple gift

One of my favorite little gifts to give is Million dollar candy bars.
These can usually be found during the holidays.
I like to pretty them up with bits of fabric/ribbon/lace and a fun tag.
We passed these out at school this Christmas.

I love to decorate for the holidays.
My sister, Stephanie, made me the prettiest vintage paper wreath and JOY garland.
They are gorgeous and became my focal point and inspiration this year.

Our favorite hen, Pretty, went to heaven last night.
We're not sure what got her, but the boys set a "trap" and are
hoping to catch whatever is after our girls .. sniffle, sniffle.

Jack and Jingle

If you don't have a little "magic" elf in your house you might want to think about getting one.
We have Jack - the "traditional" Elf on the Shelf ( I have seen them at Target and Hallmark stores) and we have Jingle our little "vintage" elf with a jingle bell on her boot. The children LOVE this tradition.
Every night the little elves move to different spots - reporting to Santa each evening when they leave.
This year, thanks to Pinterest, I've taken it to a new level - the elves are into everything.
The children can hardly wait to jump out of bed in the morning to find them.The elves have also left a few goodies this year, books one day and today a "family" game that Caleb recently played at a party and loved, Twister. Jack and Jingle apparently had been playing it all night long. I love getting up early and creating a little Christmas magic each day. So go out and find yourself a little "magic".

A treasure of gold

found right in our own front yard.

It was such a treat to watch the children and Silver play in piles of dry leaves a few weeks ago. Usually when the Maples bless our yard with all of their yellow leaves it is pouring rain and they are not a whole lot of fun to play with.
Dry leaves = the greatest everyday treasure .. the sound of my children's laughter.

C is for Creative Caleb

A guitar he made for music class using recycled materials he found here at home.

Caleb was recognized at his schools monthly assembly for demonstrating Octobers character trait .. CREATIVITY. He sure deserves it. He is always creating things - last week he discovered my glue gun while we worked on a diorama project for his class.A few days later he agreed to spend his allowance on glue for the gun if I would just "please, let him use one more stick".

Sometimes words seems so inadequate.

A few weeks ago I was surprised and so honored to recieve the most wonderful "treasures".
Someone that my sister works with had seen my art and wanted me to have a few special things that she had. When my sister delivered them I nearly cried. They are so beautiful.

I may have a hard time creating new treasures with them, they are treasures just as they are.

Thank you so very much, Karen. I will always treasure your generosity.
